How is the procedure performed?

• The patient is given general anesthesia to stay comfortable and pain-free during the operation.
• The surgeon makes several small incisions, inflates the abdomen with gas, and introduces a laparoscope and special instruments.
• The protruding tissues or bowel are gently moved back into their normal position, and a surgical mesh is usually placed over the weak area to strengthen the abdominal wall and reduce the risk of recurrence.
• The instruments are removed and the small skin incisions are closed with sutures or clips.
